Journey of a Yes
As a young woman growing up on La Gonâve, Mme Soliette often saw children with nowhere safe to call home and no opportunity to go to school.
She quietly made herself a promise.
One day she would return.
One day she would build a place where children would be loved, cared for and given the chance to flourish.
Years later she kept that promise.
What began with just eight children has become a family that continues to grow through the kindness of people around the world.

MORNING
As the sun rises over La Gonâve, another ordinary day begins.
Uniforms are put on, breakfast is shared, backpacks are gathered and excitement begins to build for the day ahead.
It is a rhythm that brings security, belonging and hope.

LEARNING
Every school day begins with curiosity. New words are learned, questions are welcomed and dreams quietly begin to take shape.
Some children are learning to read their very first words. Others are solving maths problems, practising languages or discovering talents they never knew they had.
Behind every lesson is something even more important: the confidence that comes from being encouraged, believed in and given the chance to learn.

COMMUNITY
Life at Okipe is shared.
Meals are eaten around the same tables, chores are completed side by side and older children naturally help younger ones. Over time, friendships deepen and strangers become family.
